Jefferson City, MO — The Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) and the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MOASBO) proudly represented Missouri’s public education community at the 2025 AASA Legislative Conference, held July 8–10 in Washington, D.C.

Hosted annually by AASA, The School Superintendents Association, the Legislative Conference brings together school leaders from across the nation to advocate for federal policies that support public education.

Delegates from MASA and MOASBO met with members of Missouri’s congressional delegation to discuss the impact of federal legislation on local school districts. These conversations emphasized the importance of sustained investment in public education, equitable funding formulas, and the issuance of bonds (arbitrage).

“Attending the AASA Legislative Conference allows Missouri’s education leaders to have a direct voice in shaping national policy,” said Mark Penny, Executive Director of MASA. “We are committed to ensuring that the needs of Missouri’s students and educators are heard at the highest levels.”

MOASBO Executive Director Kim Cranston added, “School business officials play a vital role in managing resources that directly affect student outcomes. This conference is an opportunity to advocate for responsible, student-centered fiscal policy.”

The Missouri delegation also participated in policy briefings, workshops, and networking sessions with peers from across the country, gaining insights into emerging trends and best practices in education leadership.

MASA and MOASBO remain dedicated to advancing the quality of education in Missouri through advocacy, professional development, and collaboration.
