🎉 That’s a wrap!

Today marked the final day of the 2025–26 Missouri Superintendents Academy, and we are proud to celebrate this exceptional group of leaders. Congratulations to all of our Academy graduates!

From legislative updates and leadership reflection to meaningful conversations on governance, negotiation, finance, and team building, this final retreat captured the depth and purpose of the Academy experience. Most importantly, it reinforced the power of collaboration and connection among Missouri’s superintendents.

As graduate Jeana Calloway-Hodson said, "This is one of the most meaningful professional development programs I've participated in. I'm already telling people who are 1-3 years in it's a must to attend!"

A sincere thank you to our outstanding presenters, facilitators, and especially our sponsors, whose support makes the Missouri Superintendents Academy possible. A special thank you to Dr. Donna Jahnke, Director of the Missouri Superintendents Academy, for her leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to supporting and developing school leaders across Missouri.

Congratulations again to our graduates. We look forward to seeing how you continue to lead with confidence, clarity, and purpose across Missouri’s public schools.

We had a fantastic visit to Scotland County R 1 yesterday as Dr. Penny toured the district and spent the afternoon learning from students and staff. From facility improvements and the TAP grant work to student led showcases in publications, SPRINT, athletics, clubs, and career development, the pride in this community was evident in every stop.

A special thank you to Superintendent Ryan Bergeson, his team, and the incredible students who opened their classrooms, shared their work, and made us feel so welcome. Scotland County R 1 is doing exceptional things for kids, and it was an honor to see it firsthand!

Today, MASA hosted the Aspiring Superintendents Workshop at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark. The workshop provided a focused day of professional learning and networking for 15 future school leaders. Sessions covered key topics including the portrait of an effective superintendent, board relations and superintendent contracts, valuable insights from search-firm consultants on preparing for opportunities, and discussions on future leadership pathways in Missouri education. Special appreciation to Brad Wegman from LJ Hart for attending in person, and to Emily Omohundro from EdCounsel for her support. What an incredible two days at MASA! 🎉

On March 10 and 11, MASA and MOASBO partnered to host our School Finance Workshop on Developing the FY27 Budget, and the turnout was fantastic. Leaders from across Missouri joined us at the MASA office (and many more streamed in live) for an energetic and collaborative kickoff to budget‑planning season.

A huge thank‑you to Dr. Kyle Kruse, Deputy Commissioner of Financial & Administrative Services at DESE, for joining us and sharing important statewide updates. We’re also grateful to our presenters, Geoff Neill and Jason Hoffman, for leading engaging, practical conversations that helped ground districts in the big‑picture considerations for FY27.

Throughout the workshop, participants explored insights to help frame the months ahead — from what to watch, what to assess and how to prepare for a challenging but important budgeting year.

And of course, we extend our appreciation to our workshop sponsors — American Fidelity, Coryell Roofing, Stifel and Trane — whose support makes professional learning like this possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online. We’re grateful for your commitment and excited to keep supporting you as you plan for FY27!

Today, MASA welcomed more than 21 leaders from across the state for the first session of our Advanced Leadership Program powered by FranklinCovey!

Under the guidance of veteran FranklinCovey trainer Gary McGuey, participants spent the day digging into the 4 Essential Roles of Leadership and exploring what it truly means to lead with clarity, trust, and purpose.

This new cohort brings incredible energy and experience, and we cannot wait to see how they apply today’s learning in their districts and communities. Here’s to growing, stretching, and rising to the challenge together! 💼✨

Tonight we celebrated in style at the MASA President’s Reception honoring this years MASA Executive Committee President, Jerry Girdner, from Princeton R-V. Dr. Penny present Mr. Girdner with a MASA Leadership coin in honor of his dedication and exemplary service this year. We teamed up with our friends at the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents and had a full‑on celebration. The Hornets' Nest Pickers, a bluegrass band comprised of superintendent's and retired central office admins out of Kentucky, provided entertainment while everyone enjoyed great food, great music, and even better company. Huge thanks to our event sponsors — we couldn’t do nights like this without you: • Ameresco • Apptegy • Audio Enhancement • Coryell Roofing • EdCounsel • Guin Mundorf • Imagine Learning • L.J.
